This is a continuation in our series of profiles dedicated to people whose vision and actions have shaped Houston County.
At 70, Sonny Watson is one of the few people his age who can say they are originally from the town. His family came to the area from South Carolina in 1804, much to the benefit of Warner Robins.
His great-grandfather actually named the town of Wellston, after a railroad engineer named Wells, who originally drew up plans for the little town. The plans were well organized and thought out - and never used. “When Robins Air Force Base came, all that went down the drain,” he says. “It was hodge-podge growing from then on.”
