Recession seems to be the word most use to describe this downturn. Most business people I have spoken with are just trying to survive knowing it is just a down cycle in the economy. I attended a convention in Nashville along with Carpet One dealers from all over the United States. The atmosphere was cautious and everyone from California to New York had the same story. Sales are down! But all said they believe it will get better, just not very fast.

Hopefully real facts and figures presented on the charts we have included in this issue will help dispel the fear of not knowing exactly where we are. Most of us know that the economy is clearly in bad shape but knowledge is power. The information we have presented will help builders and homeowners develop a plan of action for the near future.
